Abstract. A methodology for calculating and designing small-sized cylindrical kinematic gears made of mainly structural polymer-composite materials is proposed. The technique consists of four main successive stages, in which the basic calculation formulas are presented. The features of the use of composite materials for gears are determined. Recommendations are given on improving the gear transmission parameters based on the experience of cone-wedge ring gears employment.
