Abstract. Application of MathCAD program for optical system design based on third-order aberration theory is proposed. As an example, Cooke triplet anastigmatic lens is designed in MathCAD environment with both thirdorder aberrations and first-order chromatic aberrations being controlled. To verify the results obtained with MathCAD, the lens is simulated with the use of a special optical design program, and the data comparison is performed.
