Abstract. Key features of informational exchange in management of territory development based on distributed hierarchical approach are considered. The necessity of rational distribution of the functions for spatial data processing between the levels of the hierarchy is demonstrated. Basic principles of informational support systems for hierarchical management are formulated. Examples of the principles implementation in managing the development of territories in Russia and Latvia.
