ENERGY PERFORMANCE OF LONG-TERM DATA STORAGE PROCESS

Abstract. The problem of long-term storage of large amounts of digital data is considered. Solutioning to the problem is shown to call for development of new technologies different from those used in real-time operation systems. Characteristics of modern systems, such as time of data recording/reading or time of data access in long-term storage systems recede into the background, while one of the key requirements becomes the ability of technology to provide persistent storage for the specified time at minimum cost of energy. Interdependence of energy and time characteristics of systems long-term storage of digital data are studied.
