Abstract. Functional scheme and implementation of a device for registering the composition and kinetics of formation of volatile products during friction in a vacuum with a time-of-flight mass spectrometer are described. The method efficiency is illustrated by results of experimental study of the friction of polyamide with metal and polymer counterbodies.
Keywords: mass spectrometry, friction, vacuum, polymer, polyamide, polyethylene
