Abstract. For a down-hole inclinometer, dynamic processes taking place during the instrument foundering are investigated. Governing equations for dynamics of helical-anisotropic body are employed. The torque vibrations are damped with the use of special vanes. The hydrodynamic resistance is estimated on the base of Navier— Stokes equations. Experimental and theoretical data are compared.
Keywords: down-hole instrument, gyroscopic inclinometer, helical anisotropy, axial-torque vibration, Navier — Stokes equations, vibration damping.
