Abstract. A method is proposed for localization of a geospatial object shadow in aerospace image. The method makes it possible to increase the accuracy of thematic layers formation in electronic charts of geoinformation system on the base of aerospace images. The improvement is obtained through elimination of false objects caused by the shadows with the use of digital image processing methods.
