Abstract. The necessity of optimization of roughness affecting the optical characteristics of rotors in electrostatic gyro with optoelectronic read-out systems is justified. An optimization algorithm is developed on the base of the theory of experimental planning and non-parametric criteria of roughness estimation for functional surfaces.
