Abstract. Approaches to estimation of path loss for sensor network are considered. The stochastic model of the relative positions of the network devices and state-of-art method of channel quality estimation in the frames of the model are analyzed. A new method of the estimation based on maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) is presented. The proposed method is compared with classical RSSI estimation method.
