Abstract. Requirements to the kilohertz laser pulses parameters for local laser-induced changes in the refractive index of transparent dielectric are considered. Technical specifications of developed diode pumped solid-state lasers are presented, and several applications of the lasers to microtechnologies and research are discussed.
