Abstract. A new perspective type of laser converters – the fiber-optic thermal converters (FOTC) applied for transformation of output fiber-laser radiation energy into heat is considered. The converters are used in modern medicine for contact laser treatment of biological tissues. The converter formation process is described, dependence of the optical transmission and surface temperature of FOTC on average power of semiconductor laser radiation is investigated.
