CORRECTION OF SPHERICAL ABERRATION AND CHROMATISM IN SINGLE LENS AND DOUBLET BY INTRODUCTION OF AXIAL GRADIENT OF THE REFRACTIVE INDEX

Abstract. Theoretical models of spherical and chromatic aberration correction in single lens and in doublet are considered in the case of axial inhomogeneity of the refractive index in the lenses. It is shown that chromatism in a single lens may be corrected with anomalous dispersion of refractive index gradient. In a doublet, the correction is possible both with normal and abnormal dispersion of the gradient.
