Abstract. The “geometry instancingˮ technology is applied to the problem of optimization of visual component of system of automated design of industrial layouts. The technology makes it possible to avoid duplication of information on objects represented by same models, and to reduce the size of the data structure describing the project of production department. Results of stress testing of the system carried out for virtual scene with 500 objects representing three types of machines are in agreement with required rate of 60 frames per second.
