Abstract. An algorithm for calculating the elastic constants of helical anisotropic rod screw elements on the base of optimization methods is presented. A cable is considered as an example of helical anisotropic rod. The elastic constants of the cable are calculated by minimization of a functional in preset intervals of the Poisson ratio values.
