Abstract. A model of optimal one-dimensional probabilistic sampling of determined or random variable is proposed. The model represents the variable with a set of equal quanta, while the probability of the quantum size reaches the maximal value. Dependence of the optimal quantum size on probability distribution, restriction threshold, and parameter of influence is considered. A model for estimating of quantity of information received by the quantum from environment is introduced.
