For a down-hole inclinometer, dynamic processes taking place during the instrument foundering are investigated. Governing equations for dynamics of helical-anisotropic body are employed. The torque vibrations are damped with the use of special vanes. The hydrodynamic resistance is estimated on the base of Navier— Stokes equations. Experimental and theoretical data are compared.

Gyroscopic inclinometer with the instrument kinetic moment vector lying in diametrical plane of the device is considered. Design variants of such a down-hole inclinometer allowing for the instrument rotation around both longitudinal and transversal axis are described. The latter property allows for improvement of the inclinometer accuracy and widening the scope of working of the instrument. Special engineering solutions are presented to meet rigid restriction on external diameter of the inclinometer when serially manufactured gyroscope is used in the construction.

Dependence of the pressure acting on fluoroplastic gasket in down-hole device on working conditions is investigated. An expression for limiting axial loading on a gasket is obtained with the use of Shtribek curve, Reynolds hydrodynamic equation, and Boussinesq problem.

The problem of dynamic stability of tooth-belt gear is investigated analytically. A method is proposed and corresponding equations are presented for derivation of regions of stable translational movement of the tooth-belt. Two regions of unstable rectilinear movement of the belt are recognized: the region of divergent instability and the region of parametric resonance.

Accurate analytical method (point mapping) is applied to study a typical one-degree freedom mechanical system in the frames of nonlinear oscillation theory. The result is presented as a partition of the space of system parameters into areas of qualitatively different dynamic behavior.

A new piezoelectric gripper is presented. The device operates in a self-sensing mode without any additional sensors, and is able to perform micro-positioning of small details. The micro-positioning and selfsensing functions were examined both theoretically and experimentally. The self-sufficient grip works reliably and safely and is shown to be appropriate for micro assembling.

The problem of manufacturing quality of sensitive elements for fiber-optical interferometers is discussed. A model of quadruple winding of optical fiber is developed accounting for reeling defects. Increment in fiber length due to the defects is calculated.
